Ready to get down and dirty? Join Hope Wanders for an unforgettable Adult Recess Adventure on Saturday, August 9th, as we delve into the wild and wondrous Saltpetre Cave at Carter Caves State Resort Park! This isn’t your typical stroll through a show cave. Get ready to crawl, climb, and squeeze your way through tight passages, just like the historic miners of the past, on a truly thrilling wild cave tour experience.
All necessary caving gear will be provided by Carter Caves State Resort Park – all you need to bring is your adventurous spirit, sturdy shoes, and comfortable base layers. After our exhilarating underground exploration, we’ll stretch our legs with a scenic 1.5-mile hike on the Horn Hollow Trail, offering a glimpse into the beautiful above-ground landscape of the park.
Leave the driving to us! We’ll provide comfortable round-trip transportation from Trailhead Trader in Miamisburg, Ohio. A delicious lunch and energizing snacks will be provided to keep you going throughout the day. This unique adventure is led by expert guides from Carter Caves State Resort Park and Jessica Urton, owner of Trailhead Trader, ensuring a safe and fascinating experience. Trip Itinerary: Hope Wanders Adult Recess Adventure: Wild Cave Tour – Saltpetre Cave! Saturday, August 9th
5:00 AM: Meet at Trailhead Trader in Miamisburg, Ohio for a prompt departure in our comfortable van. Prepare for an underground expedition!
Approx. 6:00 AM & 7:00 AM: We’ll make convenient restroom stops approximately every hour during our drive to Carter Caves State Resort Park in Kentucky.
Approx. 8:00 AM: Final restroom stop before arriving at the park.
Approx. 9:00 AM: Arrive at Carter Caves State Resort Park. We’ll have a short break for snacks (provided by Hope Wanders!) before our tour.
10:00 AM: Embark on our Wild Cave Tour through Saltpetre Cave! Get ready for an immersive experience involving crawling, climbing, and squeezing through the cave’s natural passages. All necessary safety gear will be provided by the park.
Approx. 1:00 PM: Enjoy a well-deserved provided lunch after our underground adventure.
Approx. 2:00 PM: Head out for a refreshing 1.5-mile hike on the Horn Hollow Trail, exploring the scenic beauty of Carter Caves above ground.
Approx. 3:00 PM: Conclude our hike, allowing some additional time to explore other areas of Carter Caves State Resort Park at your leisure.
Approx. 4:00 PM: Depart Carter Caves State Resort Park for our journey back to Ohio.
Approx. 6:00 PM: We’ll stop for dinner at a convenient location along the way (dinner cost not included in the trip price).
